Aaron Lee Emory

April 25, 1978 — January 30, 2025

Grand Island

Aaron Lee Emory was born in the Spring of 1978 in Osmond, Nebraska to Donald Emory and Jackie (Emory) Hazen. He passed away at his home on January 30, 2025 at the age of 46.

Aaron spent his childhood on the family farm outside of Royal, Nebraska. He was always coming up with new ideas for mischief whether it was making his mom chase him down from the barn rafters, teaching his little brother to ride his bike by shoving him down a hill on a gravel road, or using cooking oil to go "ice-skating" in the kitchen with his big sister. If there was fun to be had, Aaron would find it.

Aaron attended Creighton public schools, graduating with the class of 1996. He went on to college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, followed by a Master's degree in Business. He was then employed at Eaton Corporation in Kearney for several years before moving to Grand Island and working in waste water management at JBS Beef Plant.

Aaron was a lover of all music, and he especially loved seeing it live. As an avid Phish fan, he took every opportunity to travel to their concerts, even following their tour down the west coast. He was highly intelligent and could talk for hours on various subjects. He was always ready to joke around. His laugh, sideways grin, and chill attitude will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Left to remember him are: his mother and stepfather, Jackie and Garry Hazen of David City, sister Jennifer (Brad) Scoles of Elkhorn, NE, brother Roy (Jenesis) Emory of David City, NE. Two stepbrothers Doyle (LaDonna) Hazen of Verdigre, NE, and Don Hazen of Omaha, NE, and one stepsister, Darlene (Todd) Rhodes of North Platte, NE. Nieces and nephews Ethan Scoles, Madelyn, Carter, Camden and Malachi Emory, Clarisa (Ken) Kumm and their three children, Zac (Chloe) Hazen, Connor Hazen, Garrison (Hannah) Hazen, Thad (Chasity) Hazen, Kylan (Jordan) Rhodes, Mika Rhodes, Kiera Rhodes and Carson Rhodes. Also left to cherish his memory is his partner of 10 years, Jordan Cutrer-she loved him until the end.

Aaron was preceded in death by his father, Donald Emory, grandparents Martha and Royal Emory and Wallace and Gertrude Kahler, along with several aunts and uncles. He is also now reunited with his beloved dog, Dargo.

A celebration of life will take place in Creighton, Nebraska, on April 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Creighton Senior Center.
