Alan H. Good

Alan Hale Good, 64, of Carter Lake, Iowa died June 12th, 2017.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Carter Lake, IA. The service will be held at the Carter Lake United Methodist Church, 3025 Mabrey Lane, Carter Lake, IA. A luncheon will be provided following the service at Our Lady of Carter Lake Church, 3501 N 9th Street, Carter Lake, IA.

Alan was born on June 21,1952 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Richard and Virginia Good. Alan grew up in Grand Island, NE and was in the Grand Island Senior Class of 1970. Alan was proud to serve his country in the United States Army from 1971-1974. He served with honors in Vietnam, in the F Troop 196th Infantry Brigade, 8th Cavalry as a helicopter Crew Chief. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Purple Heart.

When Alan returned from Vietnam he started a small business in commercial lot striping named Good Markings. He continued in this business until his death. Alan was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved his time with friends at cycling events and rallies, especially the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, friendly pranks and love of family and friends. A trip home to Grand Island always included a stop at his beloved Coney Island.

Survivors include: his son Adam of Harlan, IA; grandsons Zeth and Dylan; mother Virginia Good of Grand Island, NE; sisters Kathy Rollman of Alleman, IA and Joan Doherty of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews and numerous friends that he counted as family.

He is preceded in death by his father Richard Good and brother Paul Good, both of Grand Island, NE.
