Hastings resident, Alfred August Ocker, 90, died Monday, December 17, 2007, at Perkins Pavilion, GSV, Hastings, NE. Services will be Friday, December 21, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. with the Rev. Jeffery Glawe officiating. Burial will be in the Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Alfred was born December 10, 1917 to Heinrick Henry Friedrick and Anna Margaretha Etta (Wesch) Ocker in Edgar, NE. He was baptized on February 24, 1918 and confirmed on March 29th 1931 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. He attended schools at the Glenwood District #56 Muberry Grove, and District #47 and a year at Fairfield High School. He married Glendoris Ida Sommerfeld-McClure on January 23, 1965 at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE she died October 1, 1995. He lived and farmed in the Glenvil area all his life. Raising cattle was his pride. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. He was a member of the Past Presidents and the Past State President of the Nebraska Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aeries Club #592. A member of the UCJ Council #109, and the Elks Lodge #159 both in Hastings, NE. He participated in baseball, softball and bowled on several leagues and was a volunteer on the Glenvil Fire Department for 24 years. He is survived by a 1 step-son, Larry McClure and wife Carolyn of Hastings, NE and 1 step-grandson, Patrick McClure, of Grand Island, NE. 3 nieces, 4 nephews and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Glendoris, his parents, and a brother Robert, 1 sister, Agnes Motley, 1, brother-in-law Cecil Motley, and 1 sister-in-law, Erma Ocker,. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Nebraska Boys Ranch, or the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, NE.
