Alfred Julius Anderson Jr.

Alfred J. Anderson, Jr, 69, of Grand Island died Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at CHI St. Francis Hospital. A visitation gathering will be from 2-5 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Apfel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be directed to www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Alfred Julius was born on April 2, 1954, in Lincoln, NE to Alfred and Bell Jean (Modesitt) Anderson. He grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Public Schools.

Alfred worked at CHI Health St. Francis for many years and loved his job dearly. He also proudly served as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army for 27 years.

Alfred was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating. He loved spending time with his family. Alfred was a caring man, putting others above himself to help and bless them, and always could tell a joke to make you laugh.

Survivors include daughters: Katie (Pete) Cabrera and Heidi (Conrad) Montoya; grandchildren: Eusebio Sierra, Conrad Montoya, Nya Sierra, Aviane Cabrera, Milio Anderson, Deznie Cabrera, Naomi Montoya, Benita Sierra, and Azeneth Cabrera; great grandchildren: Cohen and Connor Montoya; siblings: Donald, Steve, and Valva Anderson.
