Hastings resident, Alice E. (Summers) Harlow, 87 passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at her home. Services will be Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Alan W. Davis officiating. Burial will be at 3 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery, in York, NE with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM with the family present from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com Alice was born November 1, 1922 to William and Laura (Collingham) Summers in York, NE. She graduated from the York High School in 1940. She married Glenn E. Harlow on January 2, 1943, Glenn passed away May 31, 2009. During the war effort in WWII Alice worked in a factory painting airplanes in St. Louis, MO. She later moved to Hastings, NE and worked for the Swift Company as a cream inspector, she then worked for 28 years at the Debus-Metz Bakery in the day old retail store. Alice loved working there and enjoyed many of her loyal customers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE and was a member of the Womens Circle there. Alice enjoyed working with her husband in the garden and rug binding. She is survived by 1 daughter, Cindy Seidl and husband Tom in Lincoln, NE. 4 Grandchildren, Alison Lahners and husband Jeremy, of Stephens City, VA, Eric Seidl, of Lincoln, NE, Aaron Seidl and wife Hillary of Erie, CO and Michael Seidl, of Lincoln, NE, 2 Great grandchildren, Elisabeth and Alex Lahners, and 1 sister, Rita Cook of California and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, a sister, Leta Long and a brother, Leland Summers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE.
