Hastings resident, Alice Marie (Israel) Hegwood, 100, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village.
Services will be Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 10 am at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Renee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm with the family present at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE. Alice was born October 15, 1915 to George Washington and Ella E (Hitchcock) Israel in Jasper, Iowa. She had one sister and five brothers. She married Johnnie N. Hegwood in April 1935 in Union-Ville, MO. Alice and Johnnie had three children and they moved to Hastings in 1944. Johnnie passed away on November 18, 1988.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Hastings and was a former member of the womans group. She worked at Mode-O-Day for years and was a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara(Kenneth) Bohlen and one son, John (Marmette) Hegwood all of Hastings, 7 grandchildren, Christine Smith, Janice (Charles) Niemeyer and Barry (Michelle) Bohlen all of Hastings, Shelly (Steve) Kennedy of Arizona, Thad Hegwood and Karry Whitten both of Omaha, Trista (Kai) Frederick of Kansas City, MO and 1 step grandson Michael (Cindy) Hickman of LaJolla, California, 20 great grandchildren, Shane (Jennifer) Warren of Lincoln, Jessica (Deric) Miller , Justin (Michelle) Kennedy, Shelby Kennedy and Joshua Kennedy all of Arizona, Logan Smith, Jamie Smith, Samantha Niemeyer of Lincoln, Sydney Niemeyer, Alexis Niemeyer, Travis Niemeyer, David Bohlen, Nicholas Bohlen and Lucas Bohlen all of Hastings, Ethan Hegwood, Emerick Hegwood and Eshton Hegwood, Lexie Whitten, Gabe Whitten and Gavin Whitten all of Omaha, and Aeryn Frederick of Kansas City, step grandchildren, Cameron and Carson Hickman of California, 4 great great grandchildren, Brecklynn Warren of Lincoln, Sophi Miller, Dawson Miller and Marshall Kennedy all of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Johnnie, son Jerry Hegwood and grandson David Bohlen.
