Doniphan resident, Allen Dale Losee, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan, NE with the Rev. Julie Bringelson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull, NE. Visitation will be Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 5 PM to 9 PM and Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM with the family present Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Allen was born October 6, 1927 to Edward J. and Cora Jane (McWhirter) Losee in Hastings, NE. He attended District 46 in rural Doniphan. He married Dorothy Dot Lamphiear on September 23, 1950 in Hastings, NE. They lived in Hastings and Doniphan, NE until moving to the family farm southwest of Doniphan in 1957. They lived there until moving into Doniphan in 1987. Allen was an over the road truck driver for Red and White Trucking and worked construction for Lamphier Construction until his father retired from farming and he began farming. Allen also did a custom hay baling business for many years. Allen drove a school bus for the Doniphan School District for 34 years. He enjoyed telling stories of driving the bus and so loved it when the children that rode his bus would greet him with you were my bus driver when I went to school and I never forgot you. He would always say he didnt know what made him so memorable but we know it was his loving caring nature and of course the treats he lovingly handed out or the stop at the ice cream shop when school was out for the summer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Doniphan, NE, he played the pinochle with a group of friends for over 50 years, he belonged to the Doniphan Lions Club, he was in a bowling league at Pastime Lanes, and the Doniphan Senior Center. He enjoyed helping his son mow lawns, traveling, visiting with family and friends, collecting John Deere memorabilia and watching the Kansas City Royals baseball and Nebraska football. His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and always had a story to tell. He is survived by his wife Dot of Hastings, NE, 3 daughters, Vicki Tolson and husband Frank, Barbara Antle and fianc(c)e Dwayne Weber, all of Doniphan, NE and Gayle Tolson and husband Walter Rocky of Grand Island, NE. 1 son Rodney Losee and wife Deb of Doniphan, NE. 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Clifford and Elgin, 3 sisters, Norma, Bernice Bea and Marjorie, and 1 great granddaughter Kaylynn and a son-in-law, Steven R. Antle. Memorials may be given to The American Diabetes Association or the United Methodist Church, Doniphan, NE.
