Alma E. Janssen

Hastings resident, Alma E. Janssen, 86, passed away, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at her daughters home in Blue Hill, NE. Services will be Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating. Burial will be in the Concordia Cemetery, Prosser, NE. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Alma was born, May 19, 1923 to Adolf and Mary (Toben) Uden in rural Adams County. She married Harlan L. Janssen on August 26, 1951 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Juniata, NE, Harlan passed away September 3, 2001. Alma was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE. Family was very important to Alma. Her children and grandchildren brought her joy. In her day she loved to garden, plant flowers and read. She really had a green thumb. She was a great cook and perked the best coffee. Almas family has been blessed with her life here on earth. They know she is now in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior. She was greeted joy by all those who are waiting for her there. Almas sweet sprit and quick wit will be greatly missed by her loved ones, friends and those who cared for her. She is survived by 2 daughters, Gail Kendall of Gibbon, NE and Mary Morse and husband Bruce of Blue Hill, NE. 3 sons, Timothy Janssen of Denver, CO, Phillip Janssen and wife Shelly of Grand Island, NE and Kevin Janssen and wife Michelle of Hastings, NE. 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 1 sister, Marie Sleep of Gibbon, NE. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harlan, 1 granddaughter, Kendra E. Hock, 3 sisters, Bertha Knapp, Helene Hendricks, and Evelyn Hoefer, 2 brothers, Alvin and Albert Uden and 1 son-in-law, Edward Kendall. Memorials may be given to the family.
