Hastings resident, Alvin James Petrik, 73, passed away, Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE. Graveside service will be Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10 AM at the Presbyterian Cemetery, in Campbell; NE with military rites. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 5 PM to 9 PM and Friday, September 4, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Alvin was born March 8, 1936 to James Rudolph and Katherine (Haagensen) Petrik in Campbell, NE. He graduated from Campbell High School, in 1953. Alvin served in the National Guard from August 31, 1953 to February 25, 1954. He then served in the United States Air Force from April 10, 1956 to August 8, 1968 including 2 tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He married Joann Hill in 1956, they later divorced. He had lived in the Hastings area over 40 years coming from Lowell, MA. He retired as a welder, for the Hastings Equity Grain Bin in Hastings, NE. He enjoyed Nebraska Football and other sports including, fishing, bowling and softball. He also enjoyed growing roses and taking care of his dog Toby. He is survived by 2 daughters, Vickie Hennings of Fort Worth, TX and Jackie Consbruck of Hastings, NE, 2 sons, Alvin D. Petrik of Naples, Florida and Douglas W. Petrik and wife Valarie of Olathe, KS. 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 1 sister Evelyn Eckhardt of Hastings, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 infant daughter, Tertia. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
