Alyce F. Stalnaker, 76, of Grand Island entered her heavenly home on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at CHI St. Francis Skilled Care.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home. In honoring Alyces wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial of cremains will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Alyce Faye Stalnaker was born June 20 1940, at Grand Island, NE to Frances Amy Roark and Fredrick A. Merithew. She grew up in Grand Island and received her education in the Grand Island Public Schools.
Alyce married Robert E. Stalnaker on May 2, 1964, at Pierre, SD. They made their home in Grand Island where Alyce was employed by Luther & Maddox for 25 years.
Alyce also lived in Alda, Hastings, and Omaha, before returning to Grand Island, where she worked for Kline Trucking until the time of her retirement.
She loved working Sudoku puzzles, bowling and walking at the Conestoga Mall. She especially cherished the time she spent with her immediate and extended families.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Candice Stalnaker of Omaha, Douglas Stalnaker of Grand Island; daughter, Michelle Cadwell of Alda; her sister, Merril Lynn Kreiner; two sisters-in-law, Dena Merithew and Mary Merithew; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Bud Merithew, Gerald Jerry Merithew and Ted Merithew; and son-in-law, Scott Cadwell.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
