Ann Dohmen, 99, of Grand Island passed away Thursday January 26, 2017 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island with Rev. Martin Egging and Rev. Joseph LaJoie as concelebrants. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 until 7 PM with a rosary at 7 PM all at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Memorials have been suggested to the family for future designation. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.
Ann Theresa Dohmen was born August 2, 1917 to John and Margaret (Bach) Braun at St. Marys of the Angels Community. Ann was united in marriage to Christian Dohmen on October 26, 1937 at St. Marys of the Angels; after which they resided in Lindsay, NE; Scottsbluff, NE and Columbus, NE. Christian and Ann moved to Grand Island in 1955; where she was a housewife and later worked in the lunch program at Blessed Sacrament after her children were in school. Ann was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; an original member of the churchs perpetual adoration; Blessed Sacrament Altar Society; as well as the Eagles Club. She enjoyed all sports, especially NASCAR and horse racing as well as playing cards and completing word puzzles.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty (Clint) Ganow; Marge (Ken) Vang; Arlene (LeRoy) Kramer; Connie (Francis) Hannon and Karen (Bob) Hoover; 23 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter Joyce; daughter, Phyllis Cassell and her husband Vern Cassell; parents; grandchildren, Steven Kramer; James Kramer; Jon Tjaden and Ann Powers; as well as 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
