Anna A. Stenka, 92, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, July 09, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Mike Wetovick and Father Ray Kosmicki officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, Nebraska. Visitation hours will be 4-6:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the parish rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or In Care of the Family. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family. Anna Agnes Stenka was born June 11, 1921 at Ingham, Nebraska, one of twin daughters born to Carl & Agnes Aurora (Blomquist) Blomstedt. She grew up and received her education in Howard County near Dannebrog and Boelus area. She graduated from Boleus High School in 1939. After graduation she worked as a house maid and at The Model Laundry. She was united in marriage to Paul Stenka, October 21, 1942 at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island. The couple resided in Grand Island and later to farms by Loup City, St. Paul, & Ord. Her husbands employment took them to various communities including, Wood River, Palmer, Central City and back to Grand Island. While in St. Paul she was employed at the Ammuniton Box Factory at the Grand Island Airport along with her husband and later worked at Liberty Cleaners. In 1969 she went to work at Mid-Town Holiday Inn and retired in June of 1986. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Eagles Club Auxiliary. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Patricia A. & Eddie Paul Cahill of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Barbara J. Drawbaugh of Omaha & Marvin Drawbaugh Jr. of Henderson, Paulette M. & Orin L. Kent of Grand Island, NE and Annette P. & Dennis Colvin of Rigby, Idaho, Maren Stenka of Grand Island, Lisa Stenka of Polk, Garren & Michelle Stenka of Aurora, Krystal Stenka of Grand Island; foster son and his spouse, Donald & Judy Shuda of Dannebrog; 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar & Marcia Blomstedt of Lincoln and Harry & Mayme Blomstedt of Ralston, Nebraska; sister, Elsie Simmons of Bells, Texas; special friends, Jane Obermeier and Merle Yoder; plus many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Stenka; two infant sons, Michael Paul & Francis Paul, sisters and brother-in-law, Alma & Eugene Stalnaker, Edith and John Pohlman, twin sister, Mary & Victor Kosmicki; brothers and sisters-in-law, Andrew & Helen Blomstedt, Elmer Blomstedt, Franklin Blomstedt, Pete and Evangeline Blomstedt; brother-in-law, Bud Simmons; foster son, Ronald Shuda.
