Annabelle "Anabel" Rose Wicht

Annabelle Anabel Rose Wicht, 87, of Grand Island, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.



Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island. Father Michael McDermott and Father Charles Torpey will be presiding. Graveside Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island.



Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. A Vigil Service will follow at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.



Anabel was born on May 18, 1927 in Cairo, Nebraska to Clyde and Rosemary (OBrien) Hodgson. She grew up in the Cairo and Wood River area and received her education at Wood River High School. She was united in marriage to Eduard Wicht on June 4, 1946 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River. The couple lived in Grand Island, Wood River, and Cairo. She was employed by the Nebraska Veterans Home and the Cairo Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island. She was also a member of the Gutter Queens Bowling Club. She enjoyed dancing, card playing, traveling, crocheting and knitting. Her greatest enjoyment was her family!



Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Mary Wicht, Larry and Deb Wicht, Terry and Laura Wicht, Kevin and Loree Wicht, and Jerry and Michelle Wicht; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Butch Brooks, Jacque and Larry Palacz; and Pam Wicht; sisters-in-law, LaVonne Hodgson, Barbara Hodgson, Florence Hodgson, Gladys Wicht, Wanda Wicht, and Waunita Kroll; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.



Anabel was preceded in death by her husband, Eduard; parents; sisters, Dorothy McAhren, Mary Agnes Hodgson; brothers, Raymond Hodgson, Ronald Hodgson, Richard Hodgson, and Robert Hodgson.
