Anne L. Mercier

Hastings resident, Anne L. Mercier, 94, died Friday, May 11, 2007 at Perkins Pavilion, GSV, Hastings, NE. Services will be Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 2 PM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Monday, May 14, 2007, from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from, www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Mercier was born, May 9, 1913 to Harry A. and E. Nell (Richards) Shuman, in Lincoln, NE. She graduated from Lincoln High School and from the University of Nebraska,. She did graduate work at UCLA, Columbia University and Washington University. Having taught school in North Platte, NE she then trained in and designed millinery in New York City and St. Louis, MO .She married Virgil K. Mercier on June 24, 1956 he died January 2, 1984. In 1955 her and her sister opened the Fabric Shoppe. Upon her sisters retirement she opened the Fabric Basket retiring in 1990. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Soroptimist Club, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Daughters of the Nile. She is survived by, 1 brother, George and wife Geraldine Shuman of Hastings, NE, many nieces and nephews including, Joyce Schlick of Fairfield, NE, Betty Garey and husband Doug of Beaver City, NE, Janet Osborne and husband Jim of Fairfield, NE and Richards Shuman of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband Virgil, 1 step-daughter, Gwen Mercier Eppler, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Memorials may be sent to the Nicole J.
