Juniata resident, Arnold (Arnie) M. Houck, 77, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at his home. Memorial service will be Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 10:30 at the Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, NE with Rev Lee Wigert officiating. Burial with Military rites by the Hastings Veterans Organizations. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Arnie was born June 11, 1935 to Clifford and Ruby (Wilson) Houck in Austin, MN. He grew up and attended school in Minnesota. Arnie served in the United States Marine Corps from June 17, 1953 to June 16 1957 stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Ericksen on August 5, 1956 in Juniata, NE. Arnold was employed at the Farmers Elevator and Farmers Coop in Juniata, delivering propane. He was a bridge foreman for the Adams County Highway Dept. retiring in 2003. He had served as the Juniata Fire Chief and City Marshall, and was a member of the American Legion in Hastings, NE. Arnie was Scout Master, Troop 211 in Juniata and an assistant Scout Master for Troop 192 in Hastings. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Juniata, son, Mike (Ruby) Houck of Bertrand, NE, daughter, Dian (Terry) Larsen of Hastings, NE and son, Kent (Rebecca) Houck of Campbell, NE, 7 grandchildren, Hilary (Bob) Bradley of North Platte, NE, Zane (Sadie) Houck of Bloomington, NE, Kelsey Larsen of Lincoln, NE, Garret Larsen of Hastings, NE, Ethan (Becca) Larsen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kayla Houck of Lincoln, NE, James Houck of Campbell, NE and 4 great grandchildren, one brother, JC (Pam) Houck of Sand Rock, AL, and one sister, Debbie (Phil) Eirikson of Austin, MN and a half brother, Gary (Janet) Zander of Lake City, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father and two sisters.
