Bailey Packer

Bailey Jean Packer, 16, of Cairo died as the result of an automobile accident on March 1, 2018.



Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Cairo Baptist Church with Pastor Darrel Holzinger officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at the church in Cairo. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Centura Band Program or to a fund to help offset medical costs for Navi Nielsen. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Bailey was born on July 10, 2001 at St. Paul, Nebraska, the daughter of William E. and Dawn (Fitzgerald) Packer. She grew up in Grand Island and Cairo, she was currently in her Junior year and was an honor student at Centura High School.



Bailey was a member of numerous organizations at Centura, FBLA, Band, Honor Band, Speech Team, National Honor Society, Cheerleading, 4-H, Volleyball and Track. Bailey enjoyed wakeboarding, fishing, playing her trumpet, lifting weights and riding her horse named Mouse. Most of all Bailey loved being a high school student, her involvement with all her activities and spending time with her friends and her family.



Bailey is survived by her father, William E. Packer of Harvard, NE, a brother William R. Willy Packer of Cairo, two half sisters, Erica Blankenbaker and Katie Fitzgerald, both of Grand Island, her grandparents, William G. Smokeyand Rogene Packer of Cairo and Al and Robin Fitzgerald of Grand Island, great-grandparents William M. and Jean Packer of Wood River, Aunt and uncles, Tara and Matt Schenk of Cairo, Sam Fitzgerald of Hastings, Allie Fitzgerald of Grand Island, as well as numerous cousins and friends.



She was preceded in death by her mother, Dawn Packer.
