Barbara A. Jackson

Hastings resident, Barbara A. (Smiley) Jackson, 89 passed away, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.

Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Greg Allen Pickett officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.

A memorial will be established.

Barbara was born August 21, 1928 to Chester and Laura (Michael) Smiley in Juniata, NE. She graduated from the Juniata High School in 1946. She married William Jackson in Adams County on September 6, 1946. William passed away August 12, 2004. Barbara was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, DAR, Perky Daisies and the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital and the Adams County Fair. Barbara enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by one son, Michael (Katie Blake) of Sydney, Australia and three granddaughters, Julie (Martin) Kalitis of Sydney, Australia, Kris Horton and Sue Horton of Hastings and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William, one sister Marilla Smiley and nephews.
