Barbara Dantes

Grand Island resident, Barbara Dantes, 79, passed away, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Grand Island Lakeview.



Services will be Monday, August 8, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Towell, SSC, officiating. Burial will be in the Giltner Cemetery, Giltner, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to AseraCare Hospice or the American Cancer Society.



Barbara was born July 14, 1937 to Clifford and Florence (Wendt) Burley in Lincoln, NE. She married Mario L. Doc Dantes on May 4, 1963, Mario passed away February 27, 2004. Barbara worked at the Ok Caf earlier in life and then ran the Green Onion Bar in Holstein. She and her husband Mario were the founders of the Country Western Music Festival in Hastings. She enjoyed working with the country music bands, performers and promotions. She was a member of the Eagles Club, Hastings, NE.



She is survived by four sisters, Sandy Poe (Jerel) of Campbell, Martha Kline (Edwin) of Grand Island, Mary Ness of Georgia and Patti Mackey (Monte) of Wichita, KS.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mario and one sister Debra Ellis.
