Barbara Goldfish

June 7, 1946 — October 24, 2017

Barbara Goldfish, 71, of Shelton died Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at CHI Good Samaritan in Kearney. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Shelton United Methodist Church. The Reverend Markey Grey will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Scotia following the service. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Shelton United Methodist Church Food Pantry for the Backpack Program.



Barbara Jo was born June 7, 1946, in Fairbury, NE, to Jack and Annabel (Singleton) Skelton. She grew up in Fairbury. After graduation she attended the Community College in Fairbury and earned her teaching degree. Barbara taught second grade for several years at the Elba School.



On April 4, 1970, Barbara was united in marriage to Gordon Goldfish at the American Lutheran Church in Fairbury. The couple lived on a farm in rural Scotia; where she helped on the farm and raised their family. After Gordon died in 1992, she attended UNK, and earned a degree in social work. Barbara worked at the Area Agency on Aging in Kearney for fifteen years until she retired in 2015, and moved to Shelton.



She was a member of the Methodist Church. Barbara enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking, and watching her grandkids.



Barbara is survived by her children: Kirk (Kaylea) Goldfish of Bertrand, NE, Eric (Amanda) Goldfish of Shelton, Gina (Nic) Evans of Lincoln; grandchildren: Avery, Seaver, Gentri Goldfish, Madison and Matthew Goldfish, Alyssa and Logan Evans; brothers: Jack (Debbie) Skelton of Pueblo, CO, Richard (Sharon) Skelton of Kearney, NE; sisters: Karen (Lloyd) Dawes of Broken Arrow, OK, Nancy (Howard) Oliver of Lincoln, NE; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.



She was preceded in death by parents, husband: Gordon; and brother: Larry Skelton.
