Kenesaw resident, Barbara Jean Ramsey, 87, passed away January 10, 2017 at Prairie View Gardens in Kearney.
Services will be Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10:30 am the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw with Pastor Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association.
Barbara was born January 9, 1930 to Roy William and Fern Violet (Weliever) Sheen in Gibbon, NE. She grew up in the Gibbon area, graduating from the Gibbon High School in 1948. Barbara married Melvin Donnell Ramsey on December 2, 1951 in Kearney. She worked in Kearney, while her husband Melvin was in the Navy. She had lived in California for 4 years moving back to Heartwell for a year then moving to the family farm Northwest of Kenesaw. Barbara enjoyed being a farm wife and homemaker
She attended St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw. She enjoyed spending time with her family, ceramics, reading and traveling.
She is survived by one son, Myles D. Ramsey and wife Mary of Kenesaw, NE and one daughter, Michelle Blessin and husband Russ of Greenwood, NE, 5 grandchildren, Tyler Ramsey and wife Alysha of Kenesaw, Melissa Peterson and husband Josh of Abilene, KS, Jenae Dreher and husband Dylan of Lincoln, NE, Andy Blessin and wife Catie of Kenesaw, NE, and Teryn Blessin of Greenwood, NE and 7 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donnell, 2 brothers, Leroy and Donald Sheen, and 2 sisters, Pauline Frederick and Carol Lauver.
