Barbara J. Schmidt

Barbara Jean Scarborough Schmidt peacefully passed away January 21, 2025 in Hastings, NE. She was born January 30, 1953 to Gerald and Edna Scarborough in Hastings, NE. She graduated from Hastings High School In 1971. She also attended Central Community College of Hastings to attain an associate in Computer Operations and then received a Bachelors in Human Resources from Hastings College.

Barb worked several different office positions before retiring. She enjoyed visiting the mountains, reading, roller-skating, bowling, feeding and rescuing stray cats and spoiling her granddaughter.

She is survived by her spouse Mark Fischer, her son and daughter in law Greg and Michelle Schmidt and her granddaughter Morgan Schmidt.

Family and friends and welcome to gather for lunch at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings, NE on February 1, 2025 from 11 am to 2 pm in remembrance and celebration of Barb’s life.
