Hastings resident, Bennie L. Day, 74, of 1827 Bateman Av. died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at his home. Services will be Monday, May 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 12 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and up till service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mr. Day was born September 17, 1931 to Jesse W. and Audrey W. (White) Day in Smith Center, KS. He grew up in Smith Center, Kansas and moved to the Hastings area in the early 1950's. On May 4, 1958 he married Patricia B. Kempf in Hastings, NE. He worked for Hastings Typewriter then in 1962 they then moved to Lincoln, NE where he worked with U.S. Geological Survey as a Hydro Technician, they then moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1971 to do the same type of work. He then retired Dec 1990 and they moved back to Hastings, in 1991. He was a member of the First Christian Church and N.A.R.F.E. He was also on the counsel at Golden Friendship Center. He is survived by wife Patricia, of Hastings, NE, 1 daughter, Chalsa Ann Hankins of Hastings, NE, 2 son's Larry A. Day of Englewood, CO and Gregory A. Day of Hastings, NE 3 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, 1 sister, Irene Brunow of Fairbury, NE. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers. Memorials may be given to the Morrison Cancer Center, Hastings, NE, or Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Hospice Program, Hastings, NE or the donor's choice.
