Bernadine A. White

Bernadine A. White, 93, of Doniphan passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Grand Island Lakeview Nursing Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Doniphan United Methodist Church in Doniphan with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 PM on Friday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the Doniphan-Trumbull Booster Club or to the Doniphan United Methodist Church. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.

Bernadine A. White was born, February 21, 1923 at Duff, Nebraska the daughter of Gilbert & Mildred (Cleal) Duffy. She grew up on a ranch west of Duff and received her education at District 76 graduating from Ainsworth, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Kenneth White, May 15, 1943 at Aurora, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Doniphan where they farmed. He preceded her in death in 1964. She was employed at the Navy Depot in Hastings, Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, Grand Island and later 3-D in Doniphan. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Doniphan, United Methodist Women, Doniphan Booster Club, American Legion Auxiliary, very active in the Doniphan Ball Association and the Cedarview Cemetery Association.

Those left to cherish her memory include, a daughter, Jacqueline Eihusen of San Antonio, TX; three sons & daughters-in-law, James & Carleen White of Rogers, AR; Robert & Vickie White, Richard White both of Doniphan, 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, two brothers & sisters-in-law, Pete & Delores Duffy, of Clearfield, SD; Jack & Maxine Duffy of Lewisville, CO; brother-in-law, Daryl White of Grand Island, sister, Mary Alice Short of Doniphan; sisters-in-law, Lois Duffy of Rapid City, SD; and Donna Ray Duffy of Winner, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, infant son at birth, brothers, Gilbert Jr. Duffy, William Duffy, son-in-law, Darwin Eihusen, granddaughter, Deanna Dee Kent; sister in law, Mary Collinson; brothers-in-law, Jerry White; Pete White, sisters-in-law; Helen White; Joyce White; and Meredith White.
