Bernice E. Mcmanigal

Hastings resident, Bernice E. McManigal, 80, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Services will be Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at 11:00 AM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, with Ken Ellis officiating. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery, McCook, NE. Book signing will be Monday, March 20, 2005 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Miss McManigal was born, October 29, 1925 to Dean Leroy and Cecil Gertrude(Graves) McManigal. She went to a rural elementary school near Stratton, NE. She graduated from Hastings High School and got her Bachelors Degree in Spanish from Hastings College and also a degree in Elementary Education. She was the youngest person to ever enter Hastings College at the age of 15. She taught at a rural school, Longfellow School, then the Philippines and before retiring she was a caregiver for several people. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Civil War Daughters, Who's Who at Hastings College, and the Hastings Saddle Club. She is survived by, 2 sisters, Iris Sypherd and Glenda Pauley both of Hastings, NE and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by, her parents, 2 brothers Don and Chuck McManigal. Book signing will also be postponed till Thursday, March 23, 2006 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home due to the weather.
