Bernice R. Loy, 98 of Cairo, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River, NE.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 17, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Cairo with the Rev. Darrel Holzinger and Rev. Jack Boling officiating. Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery, Mason City, Nebraska. Visitation hours will be 5-7 P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.
Bernice Ruby Loy was born March 20, 1918 at Berwyn, Nebraska the daughter of Richard P. & Myrtle (Evans) Allen. She grew up and received her education at Berwyn, Nebraska.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Loy, February 24, 1935 at the Methodist Church in Cairo, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm near Ansley and Eddyville, Nebraska. In addition to helping her husband with the family farm operation she was a waitress at area restaurants. Mr. Loy preceded her in death. In February of 2002, she moved to Cairo to be near her family.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ansley and especially enjoyed embroidering. She also attended Sunlight Bible Fellowship.
Those left to cherish her memory include, daughter, Ruby Howell of Ontario, OR, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sister, Jessie Ward of Alliance, NE, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Loy of Cairo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth Loy, son, Floyde, brother, Bill Allen and sisters, Dorothy Allen and Nancy Chamberlin.
