A long time Hastings resident, Bessie Haake, 88, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE.
Services will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10:30 am at First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, September 18, 2017 with family present from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.

Bessie was born June 22, 1929 to William A. and Daisey M. (Nicholson) Cline in Clay Center, NE. She attended Central Community College and got her Dietetic Tech degree, then worked for the Hastings Regional Center retiring in 1981. She married Lawrence J. Haake on August 13, 1945 in Mankato, KS, Lawrence passed away January 27, 2016.
She enjoyed risk taking and different experiences while traveling. She and her husband had traveled to the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and the Holy land. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading and caring for her dogs.
Bessie was a member of First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Senior Fellowship, WELCA, and was a long time active member of the Extension Club.
She is survived by her children: Donnie (Terry) Aulgur of Rocky Mount, MO, Shellie Huismann of Omaha, And Lawrence (Carrie) Haake II of Plymouth, NE, 8 grandchildren, Jeannie Rousselo, Justin Piel, Terri Blunk, Matthew Huismann, Suzie Mitchell, Nitacia Haake, Lawrence Haake III, And Tyler Haake, and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, daughter, Jeannie Haake, grandson, Jarette Piel and half-brother James Tangard.
