Betty L. Wiley, 87, of Grand Island died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Apfel Funeral Home. The Rev. Harlan Buettner will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Betty L. Wiley was born July 5, 1931, at Grand Island to Edward and Ethel (Meyer) Schleichardt. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island.
Betty married Everett C. Wiley on December 16, 1947, at Aurora, NE. They made their home and raised their family in Grand Island.
Betty worked as an escort driver, escorting trucks carrying oversize loads across the state.
Her hobbies included making quilts, sewing, working puzzles and playing Bingo.
She was a member of the Methodist faith and a past member of the Eagles
.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Wiley, Carol and David Grimes, and Sue Wiley (George Smith) all of Grand Island; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Diane Wiley of Grand Island; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley and Leonard Boguslaw, and Sandy Scoenstein all of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; infant son, Virgil Ray Wiley; five brothers, Gene, Bob, Bill, Ron and Gary Schleichardt; and one sister, Delores Grotzy.
