Beverly "Bev" Hopkins

Beverly “Bev” Hopkins, 101, of Grand Island died October 15, 2018, at the Grand Island Veterans Home. According to her wishes there will be no services. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.



Bev was born on November 29, 1916, in Anita, IA to Fred and Hazel (Gorhanour) Pratt. She grew up in Anita and graduated from Anita High School. She married Orvylle Hobson in 1934 in Adair, IA. The marriage ended in 1959. In 1973, she married James Hopkins in Des Moines, IA. The couple lived in Iowa where she worked for a dry cleaning company.

In 1989, they moved to Grand Island to be closer to her daughter and family. Bev enjoyed walking, and playing with her cats.



Bev is survived by grandchildren: Tim Williams of Archer, NE, Tom (Cindy) Williams of Little Elm, TX, Ted (Sue) Williams of Doniphan, NE, Tami Pierce of Grand Island, NE, Troy (Cindi) of Grand Island, NE, Trevor Williams of Norfolk, NE, 11 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband: James Hopkins in 1997; daughter: Jo-an (John) Williams; grandchild: Tolene Williams; great grandchildren: Amber Williams and Tanner Williams; grandson-in-law: Jerry Pierce; brother: Bob Pratt; sisters: Phyliss (Lyle) Wheatley, and Virginia Pratt.
