Juniata resident, Clair Luwane Nelson, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE Services will be Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Zion Wanda Lutheran Church, near Juniata, NE with the Rev. Harold King officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Wanda Church Cemetery, near Juniata, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 9 AM to 8 PM and Friday, August 19, 2011 from 9 AM to 6 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Luwane was born January 13, 1926 to Ernest Clair and Inez (Meadows) Nelson in McCook, NE. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1942. He married Avolon Nienhueser, June 1, 1957. He was a truck driver for Burlington Truck Line for 28 years and then he worked at the Adams County Extension office as the 4-H aide for 17 years. He was also known to the area schools as the Chicken Man, doing embryology programs. Luwane and his wife Avolon started Hilltop Bernsaka Farms of Juniata, NE in 1962. They raised and showed registered Angus cattle. He was a member of the Zion Wanda Lutheran Church, near Juniata, NE and was on the church council and held many offices, was a Sunday school teacher and he sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Nebraska Angus Assoc., a 4-H Leader for 49 years, a member of the Adams County Ag Society, the Chamber Ag Committee, and the Adams County Extension Board and 4-H Council. Luwane loved working with 4-H and Church youth, was an avid bowler, watching sporting events and singing. He is survived by his wife Avolon of 54 years, of Juniata, NE, one brother, Gene Nelson and wife Bev of Holdrege, NE, one brother-in-law, Eugene Nienhueser and wife Marjorie of Hastings, NE, one niece, Pamela Hendersen and husband Rick of Odessa, TX, three nephews, Doug Nienhueser, of Hastings, NE, Darrin Nienhueser and wife Karen, and Noel Nienhueser and wife Joan all of Juniata, NE, three great nieces, and five great nephews,two great great nephews and one great great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents in-laws, two brothers, Rolland Nelson and Perry Nelson, one nephew, Bruce Nelson and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Nienhueser and one great great nephew. Memorials may be given to the Zion Wanda Church, near Juniata, NE, the American Parkinsons Disease Assoc. or the donors choice.
