Hastings resident, Carl Everette Williams, 95, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Memorial services will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2 PM at the Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Book signing will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Carl was born November 12, 1913 to Clarence and Ona (Bowman) Williams in Cameron, MO. He graduated from the Missouri School for the Deaf in 1935; he then supervised there for 5 years. During his early years he worked for Seaton Publishing in Manhattan, Kansas. He married Marie Johnson on June 10, 1950 she passed away July 19, 2003. He worked for the Hastings Tribune for over 42 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and the Nebraska Commission for the Hearing Impaired. Carl enjoyed his family and camping with the deaf. He is survived by daughter, Vicki A. Griffin of Hastings, NE, granddaughter, Jennifer Bolling and husband Jeremiah of Okeechobee, Florida, sister, Gladys Walker of Livermore, California, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Holmes of Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie and son-in-law, Alan Griffin. Memorials may be given to the family or the Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE.
