Carol Cas Ann Treat, 75, of Doniphan died February 7, 2017 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Doniphan United Methodist Church with the Reverend Tessa Zehring officiating. Interment will be at the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. The family will be welcoming friends and family at visitation on Friday, February 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the church in Doniphan. As per her wishes, it will be a closed casket. Memorials are suggested to the family to be decided upon at a later date.
Cas was born on May 11, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Harry Gilbert and Flora Mae (Kringlen) Smith. She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1959. Cas was united in marriage to Richard M. Treat on March 10, 1962 in Las Vegas and then moved to Nebraska to farm near Hansen with her husband and raised 5 children. She then moved to Doniphan in 1987. Cas earned her LPN degree from Kearney in 1984. She worked at Lakeview Nursing Home, Perkins Pavillion, and Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital and was involved in many activities that kept her on the go. Spending time with her grandchildren and especially playing games with them as they grew up was one of her favorite things to do.
Cas was a member and past president of the Doniphan Legion Auxiliary Post #300, Doniphan Cemetery Board, United Methodist Womens Circle and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed coloring, feeding squirrels, visiting friends, and spending time with family. Cas started the KIX childrens program at the UMC and also was a volunteer at Doniphan-Trumbull Elementary School.
Survivors include her children: Jay and Burnetta (Treat) Haile, Kyle Treat, Shon and Beth Treat, Erlinda (Treat) Amen and fianc Dave Ives, and Pat and LaDonna (Treat) Koperski. She had 7 grandchildren: Alex Haile and significant other Kendra Holcomb, Matt and Karee (Haile) Dvorak, Eric and Christa Haile, Karly Amen, Cole Amen, and Gale Treat and one great-grandchild, Max Dvorak. Also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Donna (Smith) and Ted Norton, Sharon (Smith) and Wayne Tiedge. Other survivors include Shirley (Treat) Meier, Don Treat, Cecilia Treat and many nieces and nephews
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard, and her parents.
