Carol was born May 23, 1932 to Edward and Anna Vinita (Christensen) Johnson in Holstein, Nebraska. The family later moved to Gering, Nebraska, where Carol grew up. She attended Scottsbluff High School. In 1988, she moved to Hastings where she lived with her brother and sister-in-law until moving to Haven Home in Kenesaw.
While in Hastings, she was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. For a few years, she volunteered at the Haven Home in Kenesaw, taking the Handi Bus and enjoying the stops along the way. She loved visiting with the bus driver and everyone who rode the bus. Carol made friends with everyone she met.
She was quite artistic and loved to draw. She embroidered many dish towels and pillowcases over the years as gifts to the family. She also loved to read, listen to music and watch favorite shows on TV, especially The Price is Right and Lawrence Welk. She enjoyed playing board games, especially Aggravation and winning almost every game. She loved her cat Opie and her extensive collection of stuffed animals. Most of all, she loved her family and was never happier than when she was with the nieces and nephews, and later great-nieces and nephews, as well as her many cousins.
Carol had a contagious smile and a wonderful sense of humor and everyone was happy to be around her. She showed all of us the meaning of unconditional love and being content in all circumstances.
Carol is survived by her brother, Duane Johnson of Hastings; nieces Sandra (Russ) Smith of Kearney and Karen (Tom) Stein of St. Louis, MO; and nephews Dr. Michael (Rachelle) Johnson of Hastings and Corey (Lori) Johnson of Littleton, CO; great-nieces and nephews Emily Stein, Nathan Stein, Timothy Smith, Sarah Johnson, Sam Johnson, Anna Johnson, Chasyn Johnson and Konrad Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Marilyn Johnson, and her great-niece Laura Smith.
