Carol Johnson, 65 of Shelton, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.



Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with the Rev. Jorge Canella officiating. Inurnment will be in Shelton Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a parish rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Marjorie Carol Johnson was born September 12, 1950 at Red Cloud, Nebraska the daughter of Lawrence & Marjorie (Ross) Wiedel. She grew up in the Franklin area, graduating from Franklin High School with the class of 1968.



She was united in marriage to Vern J. Johnson, March 19, 1971 in Alma, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Franklin County area where they farmed, raising and feeding cattle. In 1985 the couple moved to Shelton. She was a very active member of the Shelton American Legion Auxiliary and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Carol enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren.



Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Marjorie Wiedel of Osborne, KS; daughter, Josa (Jesse) Wilkinson of Gibbon; son, Brian (Amanda) Johnson of Shelton; daughter, Jamie Reilly of Shelton; 9 grandchildren, Rory, Grant, Harley, Jett, Cale, Olive, Connor, Madden two sisters, Sharon Wiedel of Franklin, Diane (Pete) Spaulding of Campbell, NE; 3 brothers, Larry (Cindy) Wiedel of North Carolina, Alan (Dan) Wiedel of Kansas City, MO, Anthony (Doree) Wiedel of Smithville, MO; her best friend, Katie Glinsmann of Shelton; along with many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her father, husband, Vern; and brother, Steve Wiedel.
