Carol Ann Vian

Carol A. Vian, 55, of Grand Island died Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Memorial services will be Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11 A.M. at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Bev Hieb will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Carol Ann Vian was born December 6, 1967, at Kearney, Nebraska to Wayne E. and Sharon K. (Clark) Vian.

She grew up and received her primary education in various communities and graduated from high school in Berthoud, Colorado. Carol went on to study accounting at the University of Northern Colorado where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Once she had her certification, she worked as an auditor for the State of Colorado, the State of Nebraska, and then for Motel 6.

Deciding that accounting was not a good fit, Carol returned to school to earn her degree as a registered nurse. Devoting her life to attending to those in need, she worked as a RN at Bryan West, Mary Lanning, the Regional Center, Tiffany Square and then as a traveling contract nurse.

Carol enjoyed many artistic endeavors including tatting, painting, crocheting, and knitting. Her philanthropic activities included volunteering at the Nebraska State Fair, becoming a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and being a blood donor to the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Survivors include her parents, Wayne and Sharon Vian; brother and sister-in-law, James and Trina Vian; nephew, Erik Vian; uncles and aunts, Steve Clark, John and Rogene Clark and Loren and Carolyn Vian.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Ann Vian, and James and Florence Clark; and aunt, Lola Clark.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for the eventual establishment of a nursing scholarship at Central Community College.
