Carole Joan (Tyma) Oseka, 78, formerly of Cairo went to her heavenly home on October 8, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Home in Ravenna, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River, NE with Fr. Jorge Canela officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, October 13 at the church with a Rosary beginning at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cairo Volunteer Fire Dept. and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River.
Those who plan to attend the visitation or service are asked to wear a mask. There will be masks available at the church.
Apfel Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Carole was born on February 27, 1942 at Loup City to Emil Sr. and Agnes (Kusek) Tyma. She was raised on the family farms in Sherman and Howard County areas and graduated from Loup City High School in 1960. Along with raising her children she worked on the farm. Moving to Cairo in 1973 she was employed at the local grocery store and ended at Centura Public Schools.
Survivors of the immediate family include Michael Oseka of Grand Island, Myron Oseka of Cairo, Steve Oseka of Cairo, Marilyn Lund of Cheyenne, WY, Lisa Jo Gray of Cheyenne, WY and Teresa (Ron) Turek of Ravenna.
Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren: Ashley (Dane) Johnson, Crystal (Michael) Rivera, Tonya and (Adam) Anderson, Brooke (Corey) Schneckloth, Whitney (Luke) Farrar, Traci (Louis) Poss, Taylor Turek and Cydney Turek; great grandchildren: Judah, Hudson and Wesley Schneckloth, Ezra Rivera, Liv and Rae Joan Anderson, Rhett and baby Farrar, baby Poss and babies in heaven; brother, Richard Tyma; sisters-in-law, Judy Tyma and Ruth Tyma; brother-in-law, Glenn Sawyer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilyn Sawyer; and brother, Emil Tyma, Jr.; and nephew, Lee Tyma.
Carole cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and teaching life lessons while butchering chickens. She enjoyed listening to polka music and fishing, along with spending time with her friends.
