Catherine Peak

Catherine Rose Peak, 87, of Hastings, NE passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at her home, surrounded by family. Book signing and visitation with family will be Saturday June 3, 2023, from 10 - 11am, funeral services to follow at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, NE. Memorials may be given to the family.

Catherine was born October 26, 1935 to Guy and Alice (Price) Fry in Deweese, NE. She attended and graduated from Deweese Highschool.

She was united in marriage to Horace Eugene Peak on July 29, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Hastings.

She worked at Ammunition Depot, then later provided the best meals (Cinnamon Rolls) for the students at Ayr for many years. Through all her working years she was a homemaker on the farm with her animals and yard.

Catherine loved cooking, drinking coffee, and people watching with her favorite kitty, Smokey. She loved and adored her family whether it be them stopping to visit, calling, or even checking her calendar daily to make sure she never missed an anniversary, birthday, or event that she could attend. If you couldn’t find her in the kitchen you could always either see her driving down the highway putting her lipstick on or finding her on a sports field being the biggest fan!

She is survived by her children, one son, Daryl Peak of Juniata, and three daughters, Mary (Stan) Karash, Linda (Alvin) Schutte all of Hastings, Rose (Frank) Graff of Ayr, nephew Doug (LeAnn) Fry of Lincoln, 8 Grandchildren, 21 Great - Grandchildren, 5 Great – Great – Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Gene, brothers: Lee, Roy, and Kenneth, niece: Nancy, her parents, and grandparents.
