Cecil A. Jessop Jr., of Grand Island died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Golden Age Living Center, Parkplace, Grand Island, NE
Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the Salvation Army, Grand Island with Captains Bill and Ann Mealy officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at the Salvation Army. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.
Cecil A. Jessop Jr., was born January 5, 1952 in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Cecil A. & Ollie L. (Zorne) Jessop Sr. He grew up and received his education in Grand Island.
He was united in marriage to Helen Lickliter, September 19, 1987, in his grandmothers home in Aurora, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Grand Island where he was employed at Terrys Used Cars for 18 years as a car detailer and helping Terry on his farm. He later served as a maintenance engineer for Sears until 1998 when he was forced to retire with hip complications. However, the couple worked as building attendant and supervisor of Golden Towers (Hall County Housing) for eight years while residing there. In 2010 they moved to Woodland Park townhomes.
He was a member of the Salvation Army Church and organization for seven years, helping with the free supper program and their youth club.
His hobbies include playing cards, video games, puzzles and scanner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Helen of Grand Island, stepsons & daughters-in-law, Henry Layman of Beatrice, Tony Layman Jr., of Beatrice, Billy & Paula Layman of Beatrice. Gary & Christy Layman of Beatrice, step-daughter & son-in-law, Barbara & Tony Bartram of Beatrice, seven step grandchildren and church grandchildren, two brothers, Abe Jessop of Grand Island, Robert Jessop of Grand Island, sister, Lorretta James of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil A. & Olive Jessop.
