Christian Chris T. Johnson, 54, of Boelus, NE, died August 26, 2017, in Colby, KS, as a result of an accident. Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Pastor Mark Oberbeck officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. Chris was born on June 10, 1963, in Fort Collins, CO to Arvin and Corinne (Fleharty) Johnson. He moved a lot as a child before settling in Grand Island, NE, where he graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1981. In 1982, he joined the United States Army. He served in the Army and earned the rank of E5, and was honorably discharged in December of 1991. In 1992, he began working for BNSF Railroad, where he continued to work until his passing. In September of 1995, Chris met Denise McIntosh, and they married in November of 1998. They lived in Palmer, NE, until 2002, when they moved to Boelus, NE, where they continue to reside.
Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing, and geocaching, especially when it was with family and friends. He was a member of Izaak Walton and USCCA. He was a husband, father, brother, son, and friend.
He is survived by his wife: Denise Johnson; sons: Joshua McIntosh of Kearney, NE, Shawn Johnson of Grand Island, NE, Jonathan McIntosh of Palmer, NE; daughters: Amber McIntosh of Palmer, NE, Amanda McIntosh of Arlington, VA, Neistasha Johnson of Omaha, NE, Emily (Kyle) Steinhauser of Lincoln, NE, Sarah McIntosh of Omaha, NE; grandsons: Daryn, Jayden, Keegan, Dixon; granddaughters: Harley, Cadence, Charlynn; mother: Corinne Johnson of Grand Island, NE; father: Arvin Johnson of CA; brother: Bryan K. Johnson of Central City, NE; sister: Michelle Johnson of Albion, NE; nieces: Rebecca and Cori; and great nephew: August.
