Colleen I. Thaut

Hastings resident, Colleen I. Thaut, 84, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 10:30 am at the New York Avenue Congregational Church, Hastings with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2013 from 4 pm to 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial will be established. Colleen was born February 10, 1929 to John and Theresa (Haase) Drohman in Hastings. She attended Hastings High School, Hastings. She married Fred Thaut Jr on June 1, 1947, Fred passed away February 13, 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the New York Avenue Congregational Church and the Xi Alpha Pi Sorority. Her favorite hobby was dancing. She is survived by four daughters, Kathy Schreiner and husband Deon, Cindy Paczkowski and husband Randi, Shanna Schnase and husband Rick all of Hastings, and Sherri Merrill and husband Mark of Minden, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, one sister Joyce McCoy and husband Gene of Hastings, special friend John Glause, of Chapman, many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, one infant daughter, Debra, one brother John Drohman Jr. and one sister Maxine Young.
