Cora Belle Smith

Hastings resident, Cora Belle Smith, 93, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE



Memorial graveside service will be Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings. There will be no viewing or book signing; Coras wishes were to be cremated. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.



In lieu of flowers family would like memorials to go to the Heartland Pet Connection, Hastings.



Cora Belle was born September 18, 1921 to Fred and Gladys (Muirhead) Carlisle, in York County, NE. She graduated from the York High School and then Mary Lanning Nursing School, in Hastings in 1939 and worked as a nurse for 29 years at the Hastings Regional Center. She married Lester Earl Smith.



She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and the church Womens Circle, the Eastern Star, UCT Ladies Auxiliary, OES Kensington Club and was a former member of the Nurses Association.



She is survived by two sons, Jerry Smith and wife Tanya of Hastings and Jim Smith of Omaha, three grandchildren, Ryan Smith and wife Meghan, Patrick Smith and Joshua Smith and two great grandchildren, Stryder and Ramsey Smith.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, daughter, Barbara Tibbs, and one sister, Mary Petersen.
