Curtis J. Walton

Hastings resident, Curtis J. Walton, 79, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Grand Island Veterans Home, Grand Island, NE. Services will be Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 10 AM at the Second Presbyterian Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Jay Snell officiating. Burial will be Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Curtis was born December 13, 1929 to Curtis and Lilly (Stroud) Walton in Orange County, Indiana on a farm. He attended school in Marengo, Indiana. He joined the Marines after high school and served in the Korean War. He married Virginia Rockholm on December 18, 1949. He resided in Hastings, NE after getting out of the service. Curtis attended Milford Technical College where he learned his trade as an electrician. He worked for Commonwealth Electric and worked on missile sites and nuclear power plants around the country, he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, in Hastings, NE, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Eagles Club and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Virginia, of Hastings, NE, 2 daughters, Debra Holmberg and husband Charles, of Hastings, NE, and Laurel Walton and husband William Walter of Decatur, IL, 2 sons, Steven Walton and fianc(c)e Deann of Hastings, NE, and Robert Walton and wife Barbara of Norfolk, NE. 5 grandchildren, Amanda Collins and husband Scott, Brooke MacDonald and husband Matthew, Christa Holmberg, Makinzie Walton and Tara Reiman, and 3 great grandchildren, Kortnie, Jaden and Tasia Reiman. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gerald and his father and mother in-law, Soren and Hazel Rockholm. Memorials may be given to the Grand Island Veterans Home, Grand Island, NE.
