Curtis R. Rutt

Hastings resident, Curtis Rutt 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday October 14th, 2016 At Mary Lanning Healthcare with his wife by his side.

Service will be on Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at 2pm, Life House church in Hastings NE. with Brett Mackey officiating. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Hastings NE. Memorials may be given to the family. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19th from 3 to 7pm, with family present from 3 to 5pm at Apfel funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service.

Curtis was born August 4th, 1938 in Hastings NE to Curtis Frank Rutt and Phyllis Bernice Rutt. He married Jolene McCoy on June 23rd, 1962, whom he loved dearly. Curtis served in the US Navy as a Fighter Squadron Thirty One on June 3rd, 1957 with an honorable discharge on June 29th, 1961.

He was employed at Borley Mayflower and Woodwards Disposal until he retired in 2000. Curtis attended Life House church. He had a tender heart and brought joy to those in hospitals and nursing homes by his regular visits. He could light up a room with his presence and laughter. He was always helping others and giving to those in need. He loved meeting his friends for coffee time and telling stories of his life to others. He also had a love for sports. He enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren in discus and shot put throughout the years. He was a NE State professional arm wrestler in which he was undefeated. A noticeable phrase to everyone he encountered was, Thanks a lot.

Curtis was proceeded in death by his parents, Curtis and Phyllis Rutt and by his daughter, Christine Rutt.

Survivors are his wife, Jolene Rutt of Hastings

Curt and Shari Rutt of Hastings, Deb Rutt Baldwin of Kansas City MO, and Andrea Rutt of Hastings.

Grandchildren are Beau Rutt and Desi Pierce, Kobe Baldwin, Brady Rutt, Dylan Rutt, Zoie Rutt, Trev Rutt, and Chaz Gaines.

Great- grandchild, Avery Rutt .

Sisters and Brothers are Sandy and Marvin Woodward of Hastings NE , Dixie Kerr of Hastings NE , Diana and Ronnie Martson of Lincoln NE, Lonnie and Sandra Rutt of Canyon Lake CA , and Roxanne Wademan of Bluehill NE.

Sister and Brother in laws are Richard and Karen McCoy of Hastings NE , Jerry and Nancy McCoy of Hastings NE , William and Sharon McCoy of Bay City MI, Glenda and Phillip Thaut of Hastings NE , and Randy McCoy of Hastings NE .
