Dale A. Billesbach, 89, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at CHI Health, St. Francis in Grand Island.

Private family services will be Friday, September 18, 2015.

Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dale A. Billesbach was born November 14, 1925 in Oxford, Nebraska the son of Harvey L. & Margaret O. (Tull) Billesbach. He was raised in Edison, Nebraska, graduating from Edison High School with the class of 1943. He was active in all sports and played the trombone for many years. He entered the United States Navy, March 30, 1944 and served until June 19, 1946 when he was honorably discharged. He enrolled at the University of Nebraska in September of 1946 and received his bachelors degree in August of 1949 from the College of Business. He began his career with the Internal Revenue Service on November 14, 1949 and served in North Platte, Lincoln and was the Manager of the Grand Island office at his retirement in December 1980. In April, 1981 he became the Firm Administrator for the C.P.A. firm of Shonsey and Associates until his retirement in July of 2001.

Dale was united in marriage to Maryan Martin of Stamford at the First Christian Church in Lincoln, October 22, 1950.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O. Elks, past President and Secretary Treasurer of the Central Nebraska Shrine Club and past President and Treasurer of the Riverside CCHA. A member of the UNL alumni, American Legion, D.A.V. Ashlar Lodge #33, Tehama Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters and NARFE.

He was an avid sports fan and golfer and he enjoyed having five holes-in-one.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Maryan Billesbach of Grand Island, son, David Billesbach, Carbondale, CO, daughter, Janet Billesbach of Grand Island, son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Laine Billesbach of Lincoln, four grandsons, Jaryd Billesbach, Joe (Maggie) Billesbach, Andy Billesbach, Sam Billesbach, four great granddaughters, Lily, Kate, Molly & Cora Billesbach; two sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
