Dale Eddy

November 13, 1922 — January 16, 2018

Dale R. Eddy, 95 of Grand Island, went to be with his lord after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at CHI Health, St. Francis, Grand Island.



Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday January 22, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island, NE. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veteran Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Team. Visitation hours will be Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Apfel Funeral Home.



Dale Roy Eddy was born a twin, November 13, 1922 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the son of Perry H. & ODelia (Brown) Eddy. He lived in Texas until the age of 10, moving to Gibbon, Nebraska, later to north of Shelton where he graduated from Shelton High School with the class of 1942.



He entered the United States Army September 18, 1945 serving in the Philippines and South Korea with the 6th Division 20th Infantry. He was honorably discharge, September 14, 1946.



He was united in marriage to Gloria Fuller, February 1, 1945 in St. Paul, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Grand Island where Dale was employed at the City Power Plant. Gloria preceded him in death, April 15, 1982. He later married Charlotte Dubbs, Oct 17, 1982 in Grand Island.



He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he has been a 50 year member, Oddfellows Club, Eagles Club, American Legion, National Rifle Association and United Commercial Travelers Club.



His hobbies included aviation, restoring antique automobiles and always helping neighbors with auto mechanics. He absolutely loved his animals.



Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters & sons-in-law, Wanda & Jim Parker of Central City, Nebraska, Susan & Baird Sautter of Palmer, Ne, son, Stephen Eddy of Grand Island, 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Gloria Eddy and Charlotte Eddy; son, Dale E. Eddy; daughter-in-law, Carla Eddy, grandson, Kasey Eddy, three sisters, Ella Mae Stone, Clara Belle Smith and Darlene Bowman and a brother, Frank H. Eddy.
