Hastings resident Darline D. Thein, 97, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings - Village.

Services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:30 am the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the Seven Day Advent Church, Hastings.

Darline was born July 16, 1919 to Edward and Ella (MarKwardt) Albers in Campbell, NE. Darline was baptized in the Seven Day Advent Church. She attended Preasley School before moving to Hastings in 1929, then attending Hastings Public Schools. She married Lester McCoy in 1935 to this union 5 daughters were born, the marriage ended in divorce. In 1951 she married Douglas Strohl, one son was born, Doug passed away in 1978. In 1981 she married Joe Thein, Joe passed away in 1998. She worked at the Navy Depot, Daltons Caf and Hastings College.

She was a member of the Seven Day Advent Church, Hastings. Darline loved making quilts, planting a garden and her flowers each spring.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three husbands, Lester McCoy, Douglas Strohl and Joe Thein, four daughters, Karen Dirks, Sharon Powell, Carol Frye and Jane Dowse and one grandson Jerry Kreiger, two sisters, Betty Linsey and Lucille Gartner and two brothers, Bob and Delmar Albers.

She is survived by Douglas Strohl, Jr. and wife Monica of Littleton, CO, two sisters, Marilyn Gerristen and Milrae Gartner, step-daughter, Carolyn Spady and son-in-law, Lloyd Powell all of Hastings, 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
