David K. Garbers

David Garbers, 54, of Grand Island died June 16, 2019, at his home. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Apfel Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Snoberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 AM until service time. The family requests casual attire. Memorials are suggested to the family.



David was born July 12, 1964, in Grand Island to Norman and Lucille (Wichmann) Garbers. He grew up in Chapman and attended District 2 Country School through the 6th grade. Then attended school in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1982. Afterwards he worked for several area farmers. David then worked for Knight Brother’s as an asphalt laydown operator for 10 years. Then he worked for Robinson Well Drilling Company, and then for several other farmers until his health declined. David was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his German Shepard Rerun.



David is survived by brothers: Marvin (Tami) Garbers of Chapman, NE, Dennis (DeAnn) Garbers of Archer, NE; uncle: Eldon (Rita) Wichmann of St. Libory, NE; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; cousins; and former wives: Paula Sargent and Kristie Granfield.



He is preceded in death by his parents; uncle: Harlan Garbers; aunt: Mary Ann (Harlan) Kroeger; two cousins; and former wife: LeAnn Wieczorek.
