Deborah Alyce Ball

June 21, 1955 — May 15, 2014

Deborah Alyce (Pember) Ball, age 58, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in her home located in Poynette, Wisconsin. Her beloved little dog Daisy was by her side.

Deborah was born June 21, 1955 in Kearney, Nebraska, the daughter of Leonard Stanley and Janet Beverly (Coleman) Pember-Kruger. As a child, she and her family resided in the Shelton/Gibbon area, as well as Shreveport, LA and Tucson, AZ, before returning to Shelton in 1968. She graduated Shelton Public High School in May 1973, and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jon Alan Ball, on August 18, 1973 at the United Methodist Church. After leaving Shelton in 1985, the couple made their home in Crystal Lake, IL; Sulphur Springs, TX; Lake Zurich, IL; and Poynette, WI. Together, they raised two daughters.

Deborah loved traveling, spending time with friends and family, and anything NASCAR! Two of her favorite vacation spots were Longboat Key, FL and Texas Motor Speedway. Family meant a great deal to Deborah, and she and her sisters had an incredible bond. A good visit always involved staying up all night laughing so hard her side hurt! Deborah loved playing pitch with the family after a holiday meal, as well as a game of bowling or darts with close friends.

Deborah had an enormous talent for crocheting, needlepoint, ceramics, and photography. She also enjoyed reading, time in the yard watching the abundant Wisconsin wildlife, and tracking the hummingbird migration each spring.

Survivors include her husband Jon; daughters Kari (Demetri) Pavlatos of Chicago, IL, Jenny (Keith) Hedman of Deer Park, IL; sisters Denise (George) Packard of New Braunfels, TX, Diana (Keith) Williams of Omaha, and Dawn (John) Herrmann of Kearney; mother-in-law Betty Ball of Shelton; sisters-in-law Raye Ann (Ken) Stenehjem of Omaha, Linda (Tom) Polcha of Phoenix, AZ and Lori (Al) Cornelius of Shelton, aunts Judie Carpenter of North Platte, Joan Cecil of Florida; uncle Loren Niemack of Shelton, as well as many close friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Claire and Bertha Bert Coleman, Alyce Scott Pember, and Stanley and Vesta Pember; parents Leonard Pember and Janet Pember-Kruger; father-in-law James Jim Ball; aunt Claire Joyce Niemack; uncle Darrell Carpenter; and niece Celeste Rae Webben.

Services will be Friday, May 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Shelton, with Pastor Melody Adams officiating. Burial will be at Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the church. Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of the arrangements. May her memory be eternal.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
