Deeanna "Dee" R. Hinkle

DeeAnna “Dee” R. Hinkle, 74, of Grand Island died Monday, September 10, 2018, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 20th at Apfel Funeral Home. Derek Apfel, CFC will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Dee’s request was for those attending her funeral service to dress casually.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th at the Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island.

DeeAnna Rae Hinkle was born September 10, 1944, at David City, NE to Ray A. and Reba T. (Clemmer) Conrad. She grew up and received her education in Osceola, NE, graduating from Osceola High School in 1962. She then attended medical technician school in Minneapolis, MN.

Dee married Glen Hinkle on May 20, 1967, at Sargent, NE. The couple made their home in Central City, NE. and later moved to Grand Island in 1980.

Dee worked at as a blood service technician for the American Red Cross until her retirement.

She was a member of the Methodist faith. She also held memberships in the Grand Island Kennel Club, the American Chinese Crested Club, the Owner/Handler’s Association and the Havanese Club of America.

Her hobbies included dog handling, breeding and training.

Dee is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Trevor and Christy Hinkle of Kansas City, MO; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amie and Mick Ehlers and Cheri Hinkle all of Grand Island; four grandchildren, Braydon Ehlers, BreAnna Ehlers and Cara Dixon all of Grand Island and Aiden Hinkle of Kansas City, MO; two great-grandchildren, BrayLeigh Ehlers and Maddyson Vogt; one brother, Gary Conrad of Sun Lakes, AZ and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Conrad of Albion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Hinkle; one brother, Jack Conrad; and one sister-in-law, Joyce Conrad.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
