Dixie Goings

Kenesaw resident, Dixie Goings, 42, of 205 N. Fifth Av, Kenesaw, NE died Friday, June 23, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings after a long battle with cancer. Services will be Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 10:30 AM at the Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Paul Dunbar and Rev. Carl Rewaldt officiating. Burial will be in the Concordia Cemetery near Prosser, NE. Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2006, from 8 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and up till service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Goings was born November 13, 1963 to Harold and Betty (Gillan) Struss in Hastings, NE. She attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from the Kenesaw High School in 1982. In 1986 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, NE with a Bachelor of Science degree. She joined the McDermott and Miller Firm in 1988. She was a certified Public Accountant and certified Valuation Analyst. She married Harvey Goings on January 20, 1990 at the Christ Lutheran Church near Prosser, NE. She was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church; she sang in the choir and was a church organist. She was a past member of the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce's Diplomats, Athletic Council, Chambers' Whoopers and Hoopers, and the Cottonwood Prairie Festival Steering Committee. She was also a member of the Hastings Symphony Board of Directors, the Hastings Sertoma A.M., Teammates and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She is survived by, her husband Harvey of Kenesaw, NE, 2 son's Andy of York, NE and Dustin of Kenesaw, NE, her mother, Betty Struss of Juniata, Ne, 1 brother Gary Roemmick of China Springs, Texas and 1 sister, Jackie Miller of Kenesaw, NE, several nieces, nephews, and one great niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Struss. Memorials may be given to the family.
