Dona Elaine Krueger

Hastings resident, Dona Elaine Krueger, 77 passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Ne. Services will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 10:30 at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Dona was born March 25, 1932 to John LaVerne and Irene Marie(Bennett) Herrick in Beatrice, NE. She was confirmed at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church and had been a member most of her life. She graduated from Hastings High School, Hastings, NE in 1950. She married Vince Krueger on December 31, 1949 at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE, Vince passed away, August 16, 2005. Vince and Dona had a love of traveling and their most unforgettable trip was with their church group to the Holy Land Tour to Israel and Egypt, they walked where Jesus walked and drank water from wells Jesus drank, it was an inspirational experience for them. Dona enjoyed working as a volunteer in the church and had served on the Childrens Ministry, Youth and Family, the 125th Anniversary Committee and the Committee to update the Constitution. She did the church birthday cards and assisted with Bible School and with some of the Sunday school programs. She was a charter member of the Bell Choir. Dona was a retired social service worker. She was the Director and opened Family Planning in Grand Island, NE, she was also the Clay County Health Director. She served on the Governors Ad Hoc Committee for the Domestic Violence Programs in Nebraska. She served on the Nebraska and City Planning Zoning Association Board. She also held positions as a counselor, data researcher, grant writer, administrator and program developer. Dona was proud of her family and grandchildren, loving and hugging her kids were a daily priority. They loved camping all across the country. She is survived by 2 daughters, Kristene Moeller and husband Thomas of Colorado Springs, CO, and Amy Svoboda and husband Stephen of Hastings, NE, and 1 son, Mark and wife Patti of Hastings, NE. 6 grandchildren, Tamrae Marcello, Emily Warriner, Hannah Krueger, Elizabeth Krueger, George Krueger, and Jacob Svoboda. 4 Great grandchildren, Caden Warriner, Isabella Warriner, Vincent Marcello and Mia Marcello. 1 sister, Dolores Collins of Waco, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Albert Hammond, husband Vince, 1 son Todd and 1 granddaughter Erin Svoboda. Memorials may be given to the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church
